News on the Homefront

Mon Apr 20, 2009, 3:10 PM
So, I've been doing this writing tournament called Desire, hosted by :iconprofessorm:, and I lost the fourth round to :icondemoness-melody:, which is a slight bummer.

Anyway, :iconevil-jevil: has got this cool thing going on about an oc collab thing, so check him out, it sounds sweet.

Oh, just got my hands on some flash and am trying to figure out how to do cool animations on it, so if anyone out there has any suggestions or tips, feel free to lead me to it.

OCAM: OC Appreciation Month

Fri Feb 6, 2009, 2:33 PM
That's right, folks! Every February, I'll be hosting the annual OC Appreciation Month thingy!

What is OC Appreciation month, you ask? Simple, if someone out there on DA has ever created an OC that you think is just the awesomest thing you've ever seen, then you draw up fanart of said OC. Think of it as a kind of "thank you" for creating such an entertaining character.

General Stipulations:
1) Draw fanart of OC of your choosing.
2) In the comments, state both the name of the character and the name of the creator.
3) In the comments, state why you "appreciate" the OC. It could be anything from "I like her hair" to "I find the story elements indubitably engaging and the character gratuitously riveting", and by all means you are not limited to one reason.
4) Provide a link to this journal so others can join in on the fun!

Things to remember:
1) Since this is "OC Appreciation Month", you should only draw the fanart because you WANT to, not because it's an obligation or because you expect a pic in return.
2) Feel free to send a link of your OCAM piece to the original artist, just make sure not to pester them about it. (Sometimes artists specify how they preferred to be contacted, but by default, just stick it on their front page . . . unless they say NOT to) Just remember that no matter how jaded and snarky an artist may appear online, NOBODY can resist good fanart!

To encourage this movement, I will be submitting 5 OCAM pieces throughout the month.

Happy OCAM, and remember to SPREAD THE WORD!!!

Yes, I've been rather inactive these last few months, and I think I should change that. I've been treating this site like a job or an obligation, and that's foolish.
From now on, this site is my playground: no serious business here, just grins and giggles. Also, I plan to add more fun and easy art and even update this bloody journal more than just once a blue moon, and I think that will allow for more friendly interaction among mah fellow tartlets.

In short, the Captain is back in business.

P.S. To a fellow artist of mine: I'll get that art trade to you yet!

Art Trade

Well, I think I'll try my hand at this.

Due to relative lake of creative juices, is there anyone out there willing to do an art trade?

Ask me what you want, I draw it. I ask what I want, you draw it.

Ask away.
